Research Description
I earned my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and my Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from the University of Surrey, UK. My doctoral research focused on the involvement of glutamate, opioid and oxytocin systems in drug and alcohol addiction as well as the neurobiological mechanisms underlying drug addiction and comorbid emotional disorders including depression, anxiety and social impairment. In the Gould lab I am currently investigating the role of gonadal hormones, especially estradiol, on depression and anxiety disorders.
